Good Morning,
It has been officially a week since I have had this blog and still found time to do only the below archive... well, I've been really busy SO BACK OFF!!!! HAHA! Well, basically I know that I will have time to write Thursday mornings since I drive my sister to school and then have 3 hours until class starts... so you might as well call it "Thursdays with Julie" - well at least until April 8.
So, I call this blog Aron Ralston - do you know who he is? Hopefully by now, you do, but quickly - he is the guy who went adventuring around Utah and found himself eventually wedged in between "a rock and hard place". It's the true story that inspired 127 Hours starring James Franco. I saw it a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVED it. Especially since Danny Boyle is the director and he truly grasps a lot of pure rawness into his films. They are the type of movies that have everything.
As I was driving this morning, my sister told me she saw Aron Ralston on "Minute to Win It" last night which I immediately thought wow, how amazing... and it really is. There is something about that guy (and maybe it was because the movie got to me first where I saw a very vulnerable James Franco) but really.... IMAGINE GOING THROUGH THAT?!?!! When the rock fell, you would seriously wonder, "WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME?!?!"
The movie made you laugh, cry, sigh, gasp, say "ouch!", and then cry some more happy tears.... The best is how this Aron guy decided to capture it on his video camera. It would make you automatically feel that this is not real and would allow for you to mentally escape. It's like when that girl in Blair Witch (which I know is completely false) she said she needed to film it because then it wouldn't seem real.
I'm only guessing that this was the same feeling Aron started to feel when he would sarcastically make fun of himself on camera for not leaving a note for where he was going. Either way this guy is super cool and I think (to get really cheesy here) he truly is an inspiration. No matter how many "between a rock and a hard place" moments you feel in life... you can always cut off your arm and leave... no, you can always bring in that inner strength to carry on.
Lately, I've been super stressed about money, no job and wanting more things in life than I know I can achieve - but then I have to stop myself right there - why are you accepting failure before you even try?? Why do we always say to ourselves how much we can fail rather than accomplish. Mr. Ralston felt himself starting to lose it (as anyone would trapped in a canyon) but really, he claims he knew he would get out just by his unfinished business he knew he had.
Since seeing that movie I have realized how negative I can be in my own life. I am studying Legal Office Administration when I know that really my dream is to run off to LA or NYC to pursue the dream of acting but when I have that thought, I always think "Nah, it won't happen." I'm getting sick of that train of thought. I know that I would be content in a Monday to Friday job, working 9-5 in a stable industry, but it truly isn't me. But who knows... maybe I will love it come April. I am choosing to never let my acting/writing dreams disappear. Things will happen when they're supposed to happen. I am turning 25 in a few weeks and have decided to go for it this year and really see what happens. You never know... (right Justin Bieber?)
But, I am using this man, Aron Ralston, every time I think of clinging onto my hopes and dreams and rising above anything I feel I can accomplish.
The people I meet on a daily basis are far from any of Aron's philosophies and it's becoming way too negative for me to handle sometimes. I always think if it were any other person trapped in that Canyon, there would have been no inspirational message, no movie, no book, no icon that can say "Hang in there, baby!" I really don't mean to sound so negative but how many times do you hear people say "Hey, I have an idea or something to do." but automatically not try or find that there is too much work involved etc, etc...
I completely understand that Aron's will to live is stronger than some of people's wishes, morals or standards on an everyday basis, but really listen to Aron Ralston and your old Aunt Julie... please, hang in there baby... go for your dreams, never settle, do what makes you content...
So, thank you Aron - you reached a young woman, from the tiny town of Fisherville, Ontario and let her know that when life gives you lemons you can make the best gosh darnit lemonade that you ever drank!
Where we're going, we don't need... roads...

Hello Blogger. My name is Julie!
Through the inspiration of a close friend of mine (who writes fridatherapy.blogspot.com) I have decided to write a blog.
I always toyed with this idea but I thought "I don't know what I should write about???" but then I figured out that instead of trying to write the next "Julie and Julia", I figured I would jot down my daily thoughts and ideas for your agreement or disagreement... and for your contemplation alone or with others and just for my plain old alternative to stress... Exactly how Randi states it... "...therapy."
I am not about to make enimies so usually my conversations with myself will be pretty light and fluffy with the odd rant about certain things.
After I conjure up more ideas on today's mishaps or occurrences, I will enter a blog for your review.
Thank you!
